German Art Deco Ikora Metal Vase by WMF with Floral Motif, circa 1930
A very fine German Art Deco metal vase produced by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) under their famous Ikora line. Dating to 1925–1930, this series was heavily influenced by the "Haustein School" of designers, led by Professor Paul Haustein. The distinctive finish was achieved using a chemical and thermal treatment process that fused metals like brass, copper, and silver plating to create a striking, multi-toned painterly motif. The piece exhibits a rich, burnished mottled-gold patina offset by dark, acid-etched decorative motifs that swirl dynamically around the body. Stylized chrysanthemum medallions, trailing beaded garlands, and delicate insect motifs reveal a mastery of metalwork characteristic of the famed WMF studio. Stamped WMF on the underside.
